About the Instructor
What Course Participants Are Saying
Nicole is great, very patient, and highly educated in her field. This breastfeeding course was very well taught and well prepared. I suggest this course for all nurses, mothers to be,current mothers, and anyone who wants to be well trained, equipped, and educated with breastfeeding! Most new mothers may experience anxiety and stress when it comes to breastfeeding and this course is one of the best ways to learn and alleviate your stress and anxiety as a mother. As a NICU RN, I strongly suggest this course for other nurses and mothers!
I have had the distinct pleasure of taking both part I & II Breastfeeding Training from Calgary Breastfeeding Centre. Nicole Ahmed, as an instructor is the perfect combination of experienced, researched and enthusiasic . I would describe her style as more of a mentorship, creating an ethos or culture where all can all learn and grow together both personally and professionally. Nicole is not only passionate about Breastfeeding and healthy families, but about seeing those families and professionals find their own successes. I would highly recommend her incredible trainings and I always refer to her for Lactation Consultant services.
I found the material provided in Breastfeeding Part II helpful to my post-partum community visits. I also appreciated the evidenced based approach Nicole took in presenting the material. I had confidence that the most up to date information was being provided. This course also helped me in being able to certify as an IBLC myself. I would highly recommend any health care provider working with nursing infants take both Breastfeeding Course Parts I and II and at the very least Breastfeeding Part I – it provides such a good foundation for breastfeeding knowledge and ways to support breastfeeding moms.
I attended Nicole’s 20hr breast feeding course for practitioners in fall 2016, she was knowledgeable, supportive, evidence based and open to all sorts of questions. She presented us with many resources and gave valuable feedback throughout. I work in a small town with limited access to Lactation support. She’s changed my practice and I’ve been able to support my patients and co-workers with a new found confidence and skill. Thanks Nicole!
Taking the 20 hr BF Course with Nicole helped me to translate the art and science of breastfeeding support into actionable strategies that I can implement at the bedside to improve bf outcomes. Her enthusiasm and passion for BF is inspiring.
I completed Part I & II course with Nicole Ahmed & thoroughly enjoyed the courses content and her as an instructor. She was very approachable, knowledgeable and took the time to answer my multiple questions (even after class). I feel her experience in both Public Health, Postpartum & NICU make her a wealth of knowledge and she is able to apply her knowledge easily to a variety of scenarios in any setting. Her teaching style is enjoyable and she keeps the class engaged with interesting, relevant and eye-opening information. Although the course was about breastfeeding she made sure she highlighted the importance of supporting the mother/family in whatever their goals may be and to critically think about the variety of barriers and obstacles they may face. I honestly wish there was a Part III course so I could learn from her again!
I found this course to be extremely beneficial for my own knowledge, continuing education, and professional development. Nicole created a course with great content/information and it was fun! Nicole is very passionate about what she does, which makes her an even better teacher.
I am an experienced NICU RN and wanted to know more about promoting, supporting and maintaining breastfeeding regarding extreme premature babies but particularly the late preterm babies and mothers, 34 0/7 – 36 6/7 weeks gestation. I wanted to learn the importance of promptly identifying and managing breastfeeding difficulties in the late preterm and mother. Nicole highlighted the importance of differentiating between the late preterm and term baby. Nicole discussed the concerns involved with the late preterm baby breastfeeding and the mother establishing and maintaining her supply of milk. Nicole addressed the principles of care for breastfeeding the late preterm and the importance for a prompt lactation consultant referral. Nicole’s knowledge and passion for teaching breastfeeding had a positive impact on my direction to educate and support mother’s and late preterm babies. Thanks for the inspiration.
