Calgary Breastfeeding Centre has been providing breastfeeding education to health care professionals and private consulting for over 30 years. The original owner and founder Maureen Fjeld was instrumental in providing standardized breastfeeding education to health care professionals throughout Alberta and beyond.
As the present owner and director I strive to continue providing this standardized education through being up to date on evidence based practice and providing courses following similar outlines of the UNICEF and WHO Breastfeeding course.

Meet Nicole Ahmed
Nicole Ahmed, RN BN MSN IBCLC
My name is Nicole Ahmed and I am the owner and director of Calgary Breastfeeding Centre. I am married to my high school sweetheart and we have two beautiful children.
Supporting, protecting, and promoting breastfeeding has been an interest of mine long before I became an International Certified Lactation Consultant.
I remember being a nursing student over 17 years ago and shadowing a Lactation Consultant during one of my rotations. After seeing what she did and how mothers needed support to breastfeed I immediately became interested and said to one of my classmates “I can see myself becoming a L.C. some day, but years later when I’m older and have more experience”.
Now here I am 17 years later and I’m doing just that.
I became more passionate about breastfeeding after having my own two children and experiencing several similar breastfeeding challenges that many of my patients experienced, such as latching difficulties, damaged nipples and low milk supply.
I am a Registered Nurse and also hold a Masters of Science in Nursing degree with a focus on breastfeeding education. Teaching other health care professionals including nursing students is a passion of mine. I am very fortunate that I have roles as both a Lactation Consultant in the hospital and community setting as well as an educator. My goal as a Registered Nurse, Lactation Consultant, and Educator is to help build healthy families and healthy communities.
